IPG Welcomes artist Donna Parker
Donna Parker was born into a political family with deep roots in the county of Strathcona, Alberta, Canada.
“I have always created, I think I was born with crayons in my hands,” Parker said. Inspired by her world travels and an openness to channel the art spirits, Donna’s intuitive thirst for the poetic nature of colors and textures has developed into a wide array of creative skills. Her prize winning quilts and commissioned stained glass pieces are among her notable achievements. Amongst all of these artistic traits Donna embodies, painting has become her passion.
Donna received an unsolicited Professors’ Scholarship to study Fine Art at the University of Alberta. In 2006 Donna Parker was accepted into the prestigious Ryder Altier in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She continued to develop her skills as she studied with Caroline James, a free expression teacher and artist of note located on a coastal island off Vancouver. For the last year she has been opening new creative avenues while painting with renowned local San Miguel de Allende artist, Toller Cranston.
Donna Parker’s work as been described as bright, brilliant, exotic, full of fun and as passionate as a Mexican Fiesta. One place to see her work is at Galeria Izamal, SMA, Mexico where it is on permanent display.
“It’s what I wanted to do forever — for all my life… I am living my dream.” DP
